The Answering Machine

It is amazing to me the number of friends and family who take personal offence that I have turned Off my answering machine.

Weekly, I have been getting comments about how inconvenient it is for them.. how they can't reach me- if they need me... how could I not turn it on! Mind you these people all have my cell and caller ID does show who calls. I do return calls in my time frame.

Some of these people show on caller ID calling me every 10 minutes for about 5 calls.. seriously. It is like they are in a panic.. or don't understand how I might actually be out.

However, they are not here listening to the phone ring, only to find out it is a company who can not ID themselves to lower my interest rate and they have no idea who is my bank... or the ones who just want to offer me a free trip to West Timbuktu and I only have to pay them a fee of $100 to claim my prize. I just refuse to answer anymore.

Without meaning to be rude.. but a telephone is for my convenience and not for the person trying to reach me. With so many other ways to reach someone these days, a land line telephone is almost a relic... and if not for bundles with internet and TV, that make it too costly to just remove the service... it would be gone. Then they would really panic! lol.

Hey-- I can see some of my grass.. it is cold today... but my grass is there peaking out! Spring must be close now!

  1. We live in an age of immediate contact.... People cannot cope if this cannot be achieved..even on an answer phone
