Her name is Frosty and she is a premie-- born about 1.5 months too early. She was born in this frigid cold snap-which is never good. Her momma is taking care of her and we have been feeding her a bottle and just today decided that her mom has milk for her, so we will back off the bottle. They are in a large pen in the barn out of the worst of the weather. At night the others pile into the barn and it gets toasty with all the body heat.
I made her this little coat out of double layer fleece to help keep her warm.. along with piles of hay-- she is doing well. She is strong. Her mom is not minding the pen as she gets all the second cut she wants.
The Donkeys are like maiden aunts and watch her all the time. From their pen they can look over it's side and watch Frosty. Her momma is not crazy about the Donkeys and is very protective of her..so it's a good thing there is a barrier between them as Donkeys are nosey creatures!
Just waiting for the cold snap to leave and spring to make it's official arrival-- in about 54 days!
awwwwwwwwwwww she looks so sweet in her little sweater ! When I saw the little thumbnail I thought it was just her curly coat but it was her new sweater.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a hard freeze for at lest 2 nights for the last 4 years, it has finally destroyed my small citrus grove. Our weather patterns have really changed.
Stay safe and warm.
