Time to think about my Gardens again. In the past 2 yrs I have not done very much of anything with them, BUT this year will be different. (and I used to be the President of a Garden Club!). So, the other day I bought some Glad bulbs and something called "Wand" flowers. I looked them up and they are also known as Harlequin flowers- those I have heard of.
I have already been raking up the old stalks and debris from last years plants. I am planning fences- my dogs just feel like some of the gardens are their territory and think nothing of laying among the flowers or hunting in them. I mostly have raised beds around the back of the house- they don't bother them much. (I did see Riley hop one of the fences the other day- which surprised me).
I mostly have perennials. Hardly any annuals. Lots of bulbs. I don't have time to think of digging up bulbs to winter over- so I don't.
And my fingers and toes are crossed that we are done with the snow for this year. I want to get on with Spring!!
What are you doing in your garden this year? Anything new?
On a farm note... the babies (calves) are due to start arriving any day now. We should have about 25 of them. The nursery is ready for them. We have a fenced in area set aside-under cover- to monitor them- to make sure mom is nursing her baby and the baby is healthy.
The Donkeys are wonderful. Morgan got his feet trimmed today-his first. He had a baby melt down but all is well now. He is almost 8 mos old. Murphy continues to get more social. We decided that as soon as we had him gelded- he calmed right down and is like a large dog these days. Lillie is so much better, calmer. She knows she is home. They are spending the days with the yearling calves and will spend the summer with them in the field. Nights will be spent in their pen. We did have them in with the Big cows but now that their new calves are due- it seemed better to have the donkeys in with the yearlings. Less stress for the new moms.
Have a great rest of the weekend!
