No one (and I mean my DH) mentioned to me that when they put on a new roof that my gardens around the house would be sacrificed. This morning I took out a couple of my best plants and replanted them on the graves of pets (that I had been wanting to do).
This afternoon, I am a wreck watching roofing materials hit the plants. Granted my perennials should come back-- NEXT YEAR! So this year my gardens will look worse than normal. But I have $25.00 of annuals that I will loose most. Not happy about that.
The new roof looks nice. I had to choose a color from a 1 inch block. We had debated on metal, too many obstacles stopped that thought. Price was a consideration. Metal is a LOT more. We have family doing the roof- so we did save a lot on labor costs. But we will be happy with shingles and we got the architectural ones.. They are really nice.
Abbey is hysterical and sticking to me like glue with all the pounding and air gun etc. I think I have every TV on- Loud and the room air conditioner- even tho it is not needed- but for the noise.. I have radios on just to keep her mind off things. I did try Rescue Remedy.. I need to give it a chance to work....
It will be a long week...
I so understand about your garden. So very upsetting !
ReplyDeleteWe had a very hard freeze last winter in Tucson. It usually gets below freezing for a few days but the plants usually can take it with some covering. But this year it got to 17 for three days and reeked havoc with my small citrus grove. Lost one, three are struggling one has made a comeback two are trying.
The tree surgeons have been out three times and need to come back at lest one more time.
No fruit for me this year ! I am so sad.
All I can say is trim back feed and water...
cheers, parsnip
